San Francisco’s Stanford Court Hotel just started a $16M renovation. The project will renovate the porte-cochére, lobby, café, bar, guest rooms, fitness center and meeting spaces. The redesign began in May and is expected to be done spring 2018. The hotel will remain fully operational during the renovation.

The Nob Hill hotel, which sits on the historic site of Leland Stanford’s private mansion, partnered with EDG for the renovation, which will follow the concept of “where tomorrow meets yesterday.” The reboot will integrate Nob Hill’s history with San Francisco’s tech culture. Design elements will incorporate video, music, sculpture and photography.

The new lobby will incorporate elements of brass and blackened steel, saturated jewel tones and leather furnishings. Glossy red accents will be juxtaposed with a background of terrazzo tile, wood herringbone flooring and cream walls. Guests will be able to use a mobile check-in process and a grab-and-go eatery. The lobby also will provide access to iMacs and iPads. Zipcars and electric car charging stations will be accessible in the front courtyard. The hotel will provide bikes for guests to use.

The technology available to guests will include Jambox speakers, access to digital magazines and e-books through Foli and ultra-high-speed wireless internet.
