Anyone still looking for a last-minute game-day rental in the Bay Area can pretty much take their pick. Rooms are sitting unrented on Craigslist, Airbnb and in area hotels. Of Airbnb's 10,000 Super Bowl listings in the area, around 6,000 are still available despite increased demand, while area hotel managers say they still have rooms available, according to Curbed.
It could be that geography is playing a role, since visitors can choose to stay in a lot of different places throughout the Bay Area, that more people are trying to rent out their homes for the game, or some listings may have increased their prices too much in anticipation of more demand than materialized.
