There's more evidence city rental rates are becoming too high for non-profits: In the past several months, the Downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt/Uptown BIDs have seen a high number of those groups head across the bay. Among those that have jumped ship from the city: GreatSchools, New Leaders Inc, Muslim Advocates, and Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment. The largest of the bunch is GreatSchools, which inked a 14k SF lease at 1999 Harrison. Their new address at Lake Merritt Plaza recently changed hands.
