CommonGrounds Workspace plans to open eight new locations across the western United States: Denver, Salt Lake City, Long Beach, Burbank, San Jose, La Brea (West Hollywood), Downtown Los Angeles and San Diego. CommonGrounds started in its first site in Carlsbad in 2016 and is now seizing the opportunity to grow beyond that single location.

“CommonGrounds Carlsbad features a sophisticated co-working space with tailored services and enriching experiences,” CommonGrounds Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Jacob Bates said in a statement. “Thanks to our current members we are ready to introduce more people to the CommonGrounds experience, which is known for helping creative professionals, startups, small businesses, and enterprise organizations build their story while we take care of the rest.”

When asked about why specific locations were chosen, Bates said the cities and new locations will let the company best support, complement and inspire its growing membership nationwide.

"CommonGrounds provides an enriched environment which magnifies the locally centric experiences found in cities, which enables our members to better focus on their passions," he said.

Each CommonGrounds location will showcase an Italian café, called Invita, along with various lifestyle and locally tailored hospitality accommodations for its members like car-sharing, midsized boat rentals and access to bikes. Specific design details for future CommonGrounds Workspaces will be released closer to opening dates. The downtown San Diego location is expected to open during winter 2018.
