A Fish Tale

We asked for your fishing pics, and got this snapshot of the Colliers International father-son brokerage team of Ty Moffatt and Kyle Moffatt (left and middle) with the 100-pound marlin they caught down in Cabo San Lucas this past summer. They modestly tell us it wasn't too tough to wrestle this monster fish out of the water. Some nieces and nephews (one of whom is at right) also were on the boat, and "we all took turns to work on the guy." (After taking pics, they let the marlin go, to be caught by some plucky fisherman another day.) But the dynamic duo didn't come away empty-handed and each win a ticket to a Bisnow event of their choice.

Ty and Kyle specialize in industrial and flex product in central San Diego markets like Sorrento Mesa and Miramar. With no new industrial space coming on the market and vacancies declining, Ty expects a 7% to 10% increase in rates this year. But it was an office lease that put the team in the spotlight recently. They just won an award for one of the top real estate deals of 2014 for leasing 72k SF of office space to Qualcomm on behalf of building owner Grosvenor. Fun fact: Ty has sold the building (5505 Morehouse Dr, above) four times and leased it twice over its history.
