Porch Swings Aren't Just for Southern Estates

What's a porch without porch swings? The University City District's (UCD) Porch at 30th Street Station latest public space enhancement is custom-made swings by S.F.-based Gehl Studio, and it's still warm enough to go to the Porch and check them out. UCD director of planning and economic development Nate Hommel says the research on the matter is clear: people want a variety of seating, shade and comfort in public spaces. So the Porch now has 14 slatted, wooden swings, set into canopies of translucent polycarbonate.
