The small Philadelphia suburb of Gladwyne is the wealthiest community in the Philadelphia area.
The Philadelphia Business Journal's annual list of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the region includes locations in Delaware and New Jersey, and is based on a combination of average household income, net worth, disposable income, per-capita income and average home value. Villanova, home to Villanova University, slots in at No. 2, although it has been at the top spot as recently as 2014.
At No. 9, the 19807 region of Wilmington, DE, is the richest ZIP code of the region outside of Pennsylvania. Merion Station, Washington Crossing and Mechanicsville round out the top five. [PBJ]
