Tryko Partners director of acquisitions Uri Kahanow tells us that significant opportunities exist for well-capitalized, experienced nursing home operators who are willing to invest in facilities and staff. Todays climate rewards properties through better relationships with hospitals and the medical community, which translates to higher occupancies, he says. Its also important to maintain a family- and patient-oriented approach to providing care, and adapting to regulatory shifts. Tryko has begun work on a sub-acute wing of Kearsley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Philadelphia, which recently received a five-star rating from US News & World Report; only about one in five nursing homes receives that ranking.
