Manhattan is getting another Target.
The mammoth retail chain announced it will open a 43K SF store at 112 West 34th St. in Herald Square this October, a block from Penn Station.
There are two other Manhattan Target stores in Harlem and Tribeca. Target has plans to open 30 stores this year around the country after closing at least a dozen stores in 2016, and has two more small-format Manhattan stores in the works, in the East Village, opening summer 2018, and in Hell's Kitchen in 2019.
The two-floor Herald Square store will have entrances off 33rd and 34th streets. It is across the street from the flagship, 2M SF Macy's, the largest department store in the world.
Target's lease represents the conclusion of landlord Empire State Realty Trust's redevelopment of the former office, storage and retail building into a 92K SF retail-only property. Target will share the building with Sephora and Foot Locker when it opens this fall.
