Colliers International is bulking up its leasing practice and capital markets team with two new broker hires.

Andrew Jacobs is joining Colliers’ capital market teams as a managing director after eight years at Newmark Knight Frank and RKF, which Newmark acquired last year. Jared Rutledge is leaving Lee & Associates to join Colliers as director, focused on office leasing and tenant representation, the brokerage said in a release.

“Both Jared and Andrew are talented, solution-oriented real estate professionals who will complement our collaborative culture as well as add another layer of strength to our leasing and capital markets teams,” Colliers Director of Operations for the Tri-State Region Stephen Shapiro said in a statement. “Their extraordinary work ethic and experience across New York City ensures clients have the information they need to develop successful business strategies and make smart real estate decisions.”

Jacobs’ previous deals include the sale of New York REIT’s $98M retail portfolio, some of which Brookfield bought last year, and the sale of 138 Spring St. in SoHo for $48.5M in 2013. In total he has closed more than $600M in transactions.

Rutledge previously represented the Moinian Group in a 24K SF lease and was the exclusive leasing agent for 30 East 60th St., per the release.

Brokers jumping ship is a major part of the New York City brokerage landscape, and multiple players have moved shops in recent years. In July, Tom Citron jumped to Colliers from Newmark Knight Frank, joining the brokerage as an executive managing director. Meanwhile, Jon Zuckerman left Colliers to become Lee NYC’s chief operating officer.

Multiple brokers have branched out on their own, too. Last week, three brokers at GFI Realty Services announced the launch of their own brokerage firm, Atlas Realty Group Partners. JLL's former top debt broker, Aaron Appel, launched a new capital markets brokerage this summer.
