NYC City Planning Board OK's Moskovits' Willamsburg Zoning Change Bid

Toby Moskovits' Heritage Equity Partners could be getting one step closer to receiving a zoning alteration for its planned nine-story, 480k SF office building in Williamsburg.

Following a meeting Monday, the Department of City Planning is expected to approve Moskovits' application, which would amend current requirements that more than half the property be designated for religious, nonprofit, school or medical facilities, Crain's reports.

Instead, Markovitz and her partners want to use the majority of the building at 25 Kent Ave, between North 12th and 13th streets, to cater to Brooklyn's growing office sector. It's the first spec office development in Brooklyn in 40 years.

City Planning's certification of the application for one of Brooklyn's first new office projects in decades would still require a months-long approval process from elected officials known as ULURP. So far, the project has garnered the support of City Council member Steve Levin, who represents Williamsburg. [Crain's]
