| What better way to spend Earth Day than with the appropriately named SL Green? Yesterday, Bisnow joined denizens of the owner’s newly renovated 100 Park for an organic lunch, live music, and to learn how tenants can reduce their offices’ carbon footprints. |
| SL Green’s Nick Ricigliano shows us one of the 14 green roofs at 100 Park; he tells us that they’re made from sedum mats and no longer need watering after two years. The benefits? Improved insulation, increased oxygen, and utilized water run-off. This is only one of the green features of 100, which is currently aiming for NYC’s first Silver LEED-EB certification. Others include an Energy Star-rated lighting system and programmable temperature management. |
| SL Green’s Ed Piccinich holds up the nifty BPA-free, reusable water bottle that the firm handed out to tenants. It encourages them to use water coolers in lieu of vending machines and advises them on the negative impact of bottled-water distribution. Other changes around the building include using post-consumer waste recycled paper products and encouraging tenants to set computers to hibernate after five minutes and shut down during non-working hours. |
