Turbulence Ahead for LaGuardia Terminal?

After two years, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey finally chose a winner for LaGuardia's central terminal's $4B overhaul. Now there's a new challenge: a suggested grand entryway, offering a single connection to neighboring terminals. This costly upgrade could complicate things as the details are ironed out in a final agreement with the winner, LaGuardia Gateway Partners. Top New York official at the Port Authority Patrick Foye capped the addition at $400M, but it's unclear where that money will come from, Crain's New York reports. Although the grand entranceway is a controversial idea, Port Authority vice chairman Scott Rechler believes it could bring in enough revenue to pay for itself if programmed with a hotel and conference center.
