| Professional Women in Construction also held its healthcare facilities forum last Thursday at the General Society Library, where Perkins+Will’s Robin Guenther, New York Presbyterian Hospital’sLaura Ward, NYC Health & Hospital Corp’s Marsha Powell, and Gardiner & Theobald’s John Perez (with PWC prez Lenore Janis) discussed healthcare plans, trends, and challenges. Robin urged everyone in the construction industry to advocate for a land-use policy that supports healthcare expansion. Marsha noted how HHC will be subject to reductions in NYC capital funding, but recently issued $200M of its own bonds, while Laura discussed aging hospital buildings and the constraints imposed by diminished funding and available land. John spoke of a renewed emphasis on community centers in depressed areas. PWC will host a follow-up program in April, hopefully with better weather. |
| And the Real Estate Lenders Association wasn’t going to let the snow ruin their party again. The group had to cancel its original 20th anniversary New Year’s networking celebration at Cipriani on the 12th due to inclement weather. Even with threats of squalls and canceled trains, 300 real estate and finance pros attended the rescheduled event last Wednesday. Notwithstanding the few pairs ofsnow boots that made it into this photo, you’d never know there was a storm outside. |
