| Food, fun, and philanthropy—that was the spirit last night at Pier Sixty for SHARE's 7th annual “A Second Helping of Life,” an all-women chef event and auction to benefit the breast and ovarian cancer non-profit. We snapped this of last night's honorees, Forest City Ratner president/COO Joanne Minieri and Muriel Siebert & Co. prez Muriel Siebert, who were recognized for accomplishments in the real estate and financial services sectors, and civic contributions. |
| We also met another group of women doing great things for SHARE in CRE industry: Hendrickx Studios' Ellen Hendrickx, WB Wood's Laurie Hutner, B.R. Fries' Diane Cramer, Knoll's Linda Breda Neely, Frank & Marcotullio Design Associates' Marjorie Frank, and Knoll's Christine Chavez. They're only a few of the many execs participating in SHARE's Pink & Teal Seminar Program, which supports women with breast and ovarian cancer in real estate, construction, and design. SHARE hosts an industry reception each June, and this year it raised $125k—amazing for a financially tough year, Laurie says. |
| Emmy Award-winning journalist Brenda Blackmon (center, with The Spotted Pig's and The Breslin's Peter Cho and chef April Bloomfield) shows that she's not only good at wielding a mic, but a bottle of EVOO (for you non-Rachael Ray fans, that's extra virgin olive oil). As she served the crowd smoked ham hock soup, she told us that she's been involved with SHARE for as long as she can remember. This year took on special meaning, because it was the first she's lost a friend to breast cancer. She was one of the over 20 celebrity sous chefs, including actress Ruby Dee, author Carol Higgins Clark, and former NYC first lady and radio personality Donna Hanover. |
| “Real Housewives of New Jersey” actress Teresa Giudice assisted fellow Bravo personality Nikki Cascone (a contestant on “Top Chef”) with red quinoa, bean, citrus, and pumpkin seed salad and chicken liver salad with pumpernickel. Nikki tells us to watch out for her new East Village restaurant, Octavia's Porch, which will open next month at 40 Avenue B. Skinny Italian fans will be happy to hear that Teresa's working on her second Italian recipe book, which is more family oriented and due in spring. |
