NYCREW’s 2014 president, Citi Commercial Bank’s Laura Walker (right, snapped with Akerman's Beth Zafonte and Cassidy Turley's Gayle Matthei at a recent org event), tells us her organization is about more than just networking but also exists to help its 100 members do business together to raise everyone’s bottom line. Hence events like its members-only roundtables, where the women can talk about the kind of business they’re looking for and seek referrals. It also has a mentoring program and offers educational events like a May finance panel. Laura, who’s serving a one-year term at the helm of NYCREW and sits on the national association’s finance committee, recently was named one of the Women Builders Council's 2014 Outstanding Women and has worked for Citi for more than 20 years.

Faithful+Gould’s Christy Ullo (snapped with Global Set’s Chere Burdette and Cresa’s Hillary Walter at a CoreNet NYC volunteer appreciation reception) tells us the NYC chapter is CoreNet’s largest, with 800 members. Half of them work for Fortune 500 firms. And 55% work for end users of space while the rest of the members are service providers and ec dev pros. The chapter, CoreNet Global’s 2014 chapter of the year, is working on big themes this year like space innovation (say, reducing the size and cost of corporations’ footprints) and agile workplaces. The org is built on a three-legged stool: connecting people to people (via special interest groups like women and commercial real estate execs), people to ideas (via workshops and think tanks), and people to resources (via programs like partnerships with local universities).
