MAN OF THE YEAR!

Yesterday, over 450 top industry names gathered for lunch at the Waldorf to celebrate one of their own—Cushman & Wakefield co-chairman Bruce Mosler, named Realty Foundation of New York's Man of the Year.
Bruce, center, with Atco Properties prez and Realty Foundation president Dale Hemmerdinger and COO Peter DiCapua. Realty Foundation chairman emeritus and Urstadt Biddle Properties CEO Charles Urstadt, who's known Bruce and his father for years, told us he had a chance to buy Cushman & Wakefield in '74 for $10M—a price that was cut to $6M and eventually went to the Rockefellers. The company has come a long way since then, he notes, especially since Bruce became president & CEO in '05. “Bruce, you're the man,” he said.
“It's about time,” Silverstein Properties CEO and Realty Foundation chairman emeritus Larry Silverstein (with Barclays Wealth's Maureen Clancy and Silverstein's Lisa Silverstein) tells us. “Bruce is a terrific guy worthy of recognition.” Bruce serves as a board member of the Police Athletic League, Partnership for the City of New York, and Duke University's Trinity College; he's an Urban Land Institute trustee; vice chairman of the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum; and serves on REBNY's Board of Governors. Additionally, he's served on the Realty Foundation's Board for 16 years.
One of Bruce's traits is that he's a consistent supporter of everyone in the industry, so it was important that the industry come support him, says Studley's Bill Montana (second from left, with Vornado's Tom Costanzo, Winoker Realty president David Winoker, and Vornado's Glen Weiss).
Brookfield Properties COO Paul Schulman, Rose Associates' James Hedden, and Brookfield's Sara Queen. The Realty Foundation, an industry safety net, has so far dispersed $6.3M in helping indigent brokers—one who's had business reversals or is faced with catastrophic medical expenses—as well as college scholarships to the employees and children of employees of board members' firms.
