CIBS GEARING UP FOR BUSY '09

The 350-member Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of L.I. is gearing up for a busy '09. Here are Sutton & Edwards' Jeff Schwartzberg (president), Oxford & Simpson's Dave Pennetta (VP), and Commercial Realty Services' Jack Britvan (secretary). One of the society's most important initiatives: bridging LI's 120 towns/villages to attract companies to the Island while competing against other Tri-State areas. It's also providing mediation and arbitration on various real estate issues in the region. (Is that groundbreaking shovel also used for prodding agreement?)
No gutter balls here: Jeff and CBRE's Dan Brandel were the top bowlers during CIBS's recent "Strike A Deal" event at Melville's 300 Lanes, designed to get future industry talent more involved in the organization. Other initiatives include working to consolidate 127 school districts, therefore leveling the economic and opportunistic playing fields; and strategically partnering with other associations, charities, and industries.
Upcoming CIBS events include its annual April black-tie dinner, an annual golf outing in May, and a motorcycle run. Don't let Jeff and Dave's suits fool you: They're avid bikers. Here they are during last year's rally with Cushman & Wakefield's David Leviton, CresaPartners' Richard Caputi, and CBRE's Ray Ruiz.
