Midway, in partnership with Texas A&M University, broke ground on a large mixed-use project called Century Square in College Station, Texas--the second-fastest-growing city in the US today. Here are A&M VP Dr. Jerry Strawser and Texas A&M Foundation assistant VP David Hicks bookending Midway chairman Brad Freels at the groundbreaking. Century Square sits on 60 acres along University Drive and will include 200k SF of retail, restaurant and entertainment, a specialty grocer, 90k SF of Class-A office, conference center, two acres of open-air gathering areas, and two full-service boutique hotels totaling 300 rooms (The George and Cavalry Court, built in partnership with The Valencia Group).

Here’s the whole Midway, Colvill (leasing), A&M and Valencia team. Century Square will deliver in fall 2016 and will be unlike anything else in College Station, which has just recently grown beyond a sleepy small town. Century Square will be medium density to make it walkable, and College Station Mayor Nancy Berry lauded the property as something that will ignite a flurry of economic activity and employment opportunities for the whole community. It’ll also be a hot spot for visitors and tourists—A&M is expected to draw more than 1.6 million visitors in 2015.
