A property manager’s December is filled with getting budgets approved, finalizing outstanding contracts before year’s end and preparing buildings for snowpocalypses. But it’s also the perfect time for giving back. “It’s a great way for property managers to build relationships with tenants,” says Transwestern’s Amelia Anastasia, who's part of the team that won this year’s BOMA/New Jersey Heart Award for exemplary community service. “When we sit down and talk to tenants about what we’re doing for the community, it appeals to their compassionate side.”
Charitable events the team is running within the 4M SF it manages in NJ and NY include Toys for Tots collections, electronic recycling and food drives. Other efforts the team has supported over the past year include Dress for Success, March of Dimes, ALS research and scholarships for students in surrounding communities. "We are fortunate to have such generous tenants," she says.
