Bisnow Scoop: WeWork Closing In On 120k SF Lease Near The White House

Co-working giant WeWork is close to signing a lease for 120k SF at Boston Properties' Metropolitan Square, Bisnow has learned.

A source tells us the lease will account for two floors of the nearly 600k SF building, located at 655 15th St NW, a block away from the White House.

When the deal gets signed, it will be WeWork's fourth location in the district and fifth in the area, beginning two years ago in Chinatown, followed by locations in Shaw, Dupont Circle and, most recently, Crystal City.

WeWork’s real estate chief, Mark Lapidus, said one of the most recent leases the company has signed was in DC, in a Q&A with the Commercial Observer in New York yesterday.

WeWork declined comment through a spokesperson. Representatives for Boston Properties were unavailable to comment.
