City National Bank Chairman Emeritus Bram Goldsmith Dies At 93

Bram Goldsmith, chairman emeritus of City National Bank, died last week. He was 93.

Bram served as the CEO and chairman of City National Bank for 20 years from 1975 to 1995. He grew the company's assets more than fivefold up to $3.2B.

He raised the bank's profile and expanded its role among banks in Southern California. Royal Bank of Canada acquired City National last November, but the latter still operates under its name. His son, Russell, now serves as CEO.

Bram was highly regarded for his philanthropic efforts.

He was a past president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, whose headquarters on Wilshire Boulevard bears his name.
