The old Fresh & Easy store on Eagle Rock Boulevard could become a Target. The building has been vacant since the grocer closed the store last year.
Target is now hoping to make some changes to the building's exterior in an effort to open a new location there, the Eastsider reports.
Although it's not far from two other Target stores, one at Eagle Rock Plaza and another at the Glendale Galleria, it could be a smaller Target along the lines of its “flexible-format” stores.
There are no details yet about the plans, but it may not sit well with some local residents.
More than 300 of them signed a petition, sponsored by the Glassell Park Improvement Association, earlier this year, telling Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez and Councilman Jose Huizar of their opposition to a discount store in the neighborhood. [ES]
