Judging by the record turnout at the 22nd Annual LACRA Invitational Golf Tournament, soccer hasn't completely taken over LA just yet.

Wolf Commercial Brokerage's Martin Erck, one of three events co-chairs with Gail Goldstein and CBRE's Pat McRoskey, tells us this year's tourney drew the largest number of players ever: 252 to the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palm Resort in the City of Industry. Martin says this is the only tournament he knows where golfers can play any format—scramble or best ball. "Good golfers, bad golfers, they can all come out and have a good time." When he's not on a golf course, Martin's a West LA tenant rep; right now, he's working on some energy efficiency programs.

The fact that the tourney was held on the first day of the US Open wasn't lost on Pat—with son Scott, who's studying to be a commercial real estate pro. (Dealmaking, like shirt color, is genetic.) "That's why we're all playing—we've got the best players out here." The LACRA event is his favorite tournament of the year, bringing everybody together—brokers, owners, architects and contractors. His foursome, which included CBRE partner Patti Gilbert and JP Morgan's Steve Zaun and Lauren Graham, came in at nine under par.

Howard Building's team, which included Bo Bautista, Ray Irmer, Greg O'Connor and Ryan Plummer, walked off with the prize for low net winners. Others included Pinnacle Contracting's Chris Cunningham, Dave Fisher, M.A. Grossman, and Michael Grossman (low gross winners) and Charles Dunn's John Anthony, Walter Conn, Chris Giordano, and Chris Steck (scramble winners).

Whether that's a peace sign, or perhaps a two indicating the number of strokes he needed on the last hole, this is one happy golfer.
