A new white paper authored by Imperial College London and White City Place revealed that tech and creative people want to work in clusters, and that White City will be at the heart of a new creative and tech district in West London. Imperial College VP of innovation professor David Gann said in the paper that ultra-high-speed internet is not a panacea to maximize the potential of work groups.

“Location, in addition to connection, is as important as ever for business competitiveness. In the new era of innovation, it is the location in and connectedness to cluster ecosystems of science, creative industries and technology that matter most,” he wrote.

The white paper examines White City as an example of such an ecosystem. The new innovation district contains the key building blocks of a genuine creative hub: academics, startups, corporations and community supported by excellent transport links and super-premium infrastructure.

White City Place, being developed by Stanhope, is at the intersection of numerous transport, social, intellectual and technical networks with more than 3,000 BBC staff already on-site and adjacent to the new Imperial College White City Campus.

Three refurbished buildings at White City Place will provide a range of types and sizes of tenancies totalling approximately 600k SF. This includes MediaWorks, where Net-a-Porter Group recently announced it was taking 70k SF of office space to create a cutting-edge tech hub bringing together 650 members of the global technology team in one location.
