Amazon is adding four delivery stations in Houston, including constructing three new build-to-suits totaling 500K SF, boosting the e-commerce giant’s network of last-mile facilities across the city.

Packages are shipped to delivery stations from neighboring Amazon fulfillment and sorting centers, and then they are loaded into vehicles for final delivery to customers.

The four sites include two in northwest Houston: a 360K SF existing building at 9155 Derrington Road, and a 140K SF built-to-suit facility at 11311 North Gessner Drive.

In addition, Amazon is developing a 220K SF facility at Northcrest and Spring Steubner in Spring and a 140K SF facility at Interstate 59 and Grand Parkway in Porter.

“We are excited to continue our investment in Texas with new delivery stations across Houston that will create hundreds of new job opportunities and provide faster and more efficient delivery for customers,” Amazon spokesperson Daniel Martin said in a press release.

The delivery stations, which are expected to open later in 2021, will create more than 300 new full-time jobs.

Amazon has been aggressively expanding in Houston over the past year. In December, the online retailer announced it planned to build a 1M SF fulfillment center in Missouri City, which is slated to open in 2021. The e-commerce giant also announced in June that construction had begun on an 850K SF fulfillment center in Richmond, also in southwest Houston and due to open in 2021. In addition, the firm opened its Amazon Clay 99 Sort Center, an 805.6K SF build-to-suit facility in Katy, in October.
