While many areas of Houston have slowed due to the sluggish oil and gas industry, Pearland has plowed ahead thanks to the strength of the Texas Medical Center. At Bisnow's Future of Pearland event, Pearland City Manager Clay Pearson shared that the 77584 ZIP code (which the event took place in) has the highest concentration of TMC employees in the entire Houston MSA.
Hillwood Communities Houston General Manager Russell Bynum said 60% of all residents in Hillwood's Pomona residential development in Pearland work in the medical field.

Newquest Crosswell Managing Principal Allen Crosswell thinks the growth is just beginning. Croswell said that once the managed lanes along 288 open, it will take less than 10 minutes to get to the Texas Medical Center.
With millions being poured into the Texas Medical Center, the strength of Houston's medical sector is good news for Pearland.
