BASH Arrives!

Yesterday was a Bisnow national event,ourfirst-ever student housing conference ("BASH"the A stands for Annual): a two-day crash course on this hot sector, featuring tons of schmoozing in close proximity to the Liberty Bell, so you can ring it every time you make a deal.400 attendees packed the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia. Attendees are awaiting a major announcement from Education Realty Trust, one of the three largest student housing REITs, when the stock market closes today. Some of the conference's big takeaways so far: strong Internet and cell phone coverage is more important than hot water, new developers must partner with experienced players to get financing, and don't make building decisions based just on enrollment (that stat fluctuates).

A good pun is its own reword. Send your news to Catie Dixon, catie@bisnow.com.
