H-E-B is doubling down on its commitment to North Texas with plans to break ground on three new stores next year.

Melissa, Prosper and Rockwall will join the roster of DFW suburbs home to the coveted grocery chain, which made its regional debut in Frisco in September 2022. The newest stores are scheduled to open in 2025, per the Dallas Morning News.
Since launching in Frisco, H-E-B has also opened DFW branches in Plano and McKinney. An Allen store is scheduled to open Oct. 4.
Next year, H-E-B will bring a second store to Frisco as well as introduce locations in Mansfield and the Alliance area of Fort Worth. Joe V’s Smart Shop, H-E-B’s price-conscious subsidiary, is also slated to open in Southern Dallas. The plan is to have 12 H-E-B locations in DFW by 2027.
The San Antonio-based chain has developed a reputation for buying up parcels of land and sitting on them for long periods of time, and over the years it has amassed a large portfolio of vacant real estate in North Texas.
The newest stores, however, are planned for parcels that were purchased more recently in response to population growth.
H-E-B tends to attract a loyal customer base of both local and far-flung shoppers, providing an economic boon for growing cities that may otherwise lose sales tax revenue to larger, more established neighbors.
The business also provides hundreds of jobs, with each of its new DFW stores employing about 700 people, per the DMN.
