Retailer Plows Through DFW With 6 New Leases

Dollar General-spinoff concept pOpshelf is doubling down on its commitment to Dallas-Fort Worth with six new stores in the works.

The company has leased locations in Plano, Mesquite, Cedar Hill, Irving, Lake Worth and Grand Prairie, according to brokerage firm Weitzman, which, for the most part, represents pOpshelf activity on the eastern side of the Metroplex. The stores will span close to 70K SF.

Also coming soon is a location in Prosper, which is under construction at 1000 South Preston Road. The store is slated to open this fall, a pOpshelf spokesperson told Bisnow.

POpshelf entered the Texas market earlier this year when it opened its first DFW store in McKinney. The retailer then launched in Rockwall, Frisco, Lewisville, Allen and Watauga between May and August.

The average location is between 7,500 SF and 8,500 SF and offers a wide range of products, including home decor, beauty items, toys, arts and crafts, and pet supplies. POpshelf targets a younger, wealthier and more suburban demographic than Dollar General, according to CNBC.

The retailer, which operates 80 stores nationwide, plans to open more than 150 stores in fiscal year 2022. It plans to unveil 1,000 locations by the end of 2025, per the spokesperson.
