MG Herring CEO Gar Herring (left, with Shreve Land Construction’s Robert Hodges at Bisnow’s Dallas State of the Market event Wednesday) says he’s relieved the prediction of the demise of brick-and-mortar stores didn't come to fruition as e-commerce blossoms. Also, while the Dallas-Fort Worth retail market is one of the hottest in the country—new development is finally returning (after being in a cocoon since ’08)—don’t expect overexpansion.
Omnichannel is a bad word for Retail Solutions founder David Simmonds. He has clients pouring their resources into their e-commerce business while putting their brick-and-mortar sites in a holding pattern. One client has put him on hold for two years (in broker years, that's like a decade). David says retail is moving at a torrid pace except for the quiet mom-and-pop retailers.
