NRA Nearing A Deal For New HQ At Las Colinas Office Building

The National Rifle Association appears to be close to a final decision for where to place its new national headquarters, with both options in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The NRA is in the market for about 300K SF, according to market reports, and its search has apparently narrowed to two options: 4000 Horizon Way in Irving and 5601 Headquarters in Plano, Partners Real Estate Senior Vice President Steve Triolet told Bisnow. Triolet, who tracks corporate relocations, said the nonprofit gun lobbying group is further along in negotiations at the Horizon Way building.

Triolet's information aligns with market reports Bisnow has seen that also indicate the NRA is close to a deal in Irving.

“They’re zeroing in on DFW, and they’re down to two options in the Far North Dallas and Las Colinas submarkets,” Triolet said.

4000 Horizon Way was put up for sale in July and is being marketed by JLL, per The Dallas Morning News. The 300K SF building was fully leased to Nationstar Mortgage, the predecessor company to Mr. Cooper.

Rumors that the gun rights group planned to leave Fairfax, Virginia, and head to Texas date back to early 2021, when the NRA confirmed it was weighing its options for a potential relocation following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Reports that the NRA was checking out offices in the Dallas area began to surface earlier this summer.

NRA spokesperson Billy McLaughlin told Bisnow in an email that Texas remains a preferred choice for a future headquarters, but it hasn't yet made a decision and isn't in contract negotiations with any property in the state.

The organization toured State Farm’s 2M SF regional campus in Richardson in June, Triolet said, a move that drew significant pushback from residents and was the impetus for a petition created to fend off the group, according to NBC DFW.

The organization has since issued a statement that it isn't moving to Richardson.

The 166K SF building at 5601 Headquarters is occupied by Intuit, but Triolet said the company’s lease is expiring in mid-2026 and it doesn't plan to renew.

“It’s much smaller than 4000 Horizon Way, yes, [but] the State Farm property was larger than both of these properties,” Triolet said in an email. “Sometimes companies are all over the place on how much space they say they need.”

Despite resident opposition, the NRA has garnered the support of the state’s highest-ranking officials, with Gov. Greg Abbott tweeting in January 2021 that he would welcome the gun rights group to Texas, a state that “safeguards the 2nd amendment.”

The Colliers leasing agent representing the NRA didn't answer several calls from Bisnow.
