What We Learned at Fight Night

We love seeing everyone decked out in their finest and it’s always awesome to get the 411 on what they’re doing when we attend TREC's Fight Night. We caught up with Collier’s International VP Chris Lipscomb and Bradford’s Ed Pachecano. Chris tells us activity on the lower Tollway is strong with tenants gobbling up space. He’s seen several deals in excess of 50k SF shopping the market, too. With strong absorption, rates are on the rise. Ed and Chris also talked about using Uber (Ed favors it over the traditional taxi). And Morrisey is coming in concert, according to This Charming Man (aka Ed). Great. Now, we’re singing Girlfriend in a Coma (ok, technically The Smiths, but what’s the difference?)

Here’s SHOP Cos’ Tommy Tucker, Corinth Properties’ Terrence Maiden, and Neal Richards Group’s Derrick Evers. We learned that Tommy left UCR in February to do investment sales at SHOP and Derrick tells us the 150k SF Forest Park Medical Center in Fort Worth is on target to deliver this fall along with an 80k SF MOB. Additionally, he gave us the inside scoop that NRG’s big 60-acre mixed-use project in Round Rock has been named Auro (as in Austin/Round Rock and the periodic table’s name for gold).

Looking dapper in this Rat Pack-style photo, Bury EVP/CDO Jim Knight (left, with Walton Development & Management’s Matt Robinson) tells us his clients call him “the civil dude.” Apparently, he uses his civility (ok, we know that’s not what his clients mean) with his chip placement, too, with his Yoda moves. Not a jedi master, but maybe the chip master.
