Hudson Peters Commercial principals Janice Peters and Michelle Hudson packed a one-two punch as the first female top producers at the iconic Henry S Miller Co (Janice in 2000; Michelle in 2001). Today, they're still busting glass ceilings.
Janice (pictured with her husband Dave, getting her top producer award from Henry S Miller Jr) tells us “there weren’t many women in our industry at the time and we partnered on some deals while at Henry S Miller. Janice and Michelle worked there together for 12 years before branching out to start a commercial division for a niche firm (Burr & Temkin) in ‘05. They bought out the partners and started Hudson Peters in ’08. In that time, the team has gone from two to 13, covering virtually all market segments and moving to larger digs for even more growth, Janice tells us.
Since starting in '08, Hudson Peters has completed almost 1,000 transactions with '14 on track to be their best year yet. Michelle (right, with Janice) says the duo brings different strengths. “I wouldn’t be as successful without Janice,” she says. “We have similar values and we listen to each other.” Michelle primarily handles industrial deals and investment sales. She recently worked with colleagues Scott Jackson and Elizabeth Ocando to rep a tenant in a 170k SF industrial lease in Frisco, as well as a 40k SF lease for Retail Ready Careers in Garland. Janice is working on some expansions for current clients as well as handling the disposition of a land portfolio. One of her most recent deals includes repping a tenant in a 23k SF lease in Westlake.
The duo received the CREW Dallas 2011 award for career advancement for women (pictured here with that award in ‘11). The pair says when they launched their firm, one of their goals was to serve as mentors. Today, Janice is the chairwoman for the CREW Dallas programs committee, is on the Leadership Richardson advisory board, works in the City’s TIF board, and is helping plan her daughter’s wedding. Michelle is the CREW Dallas prez and mentors women with job counseling at the Genesis Women’s Shelter. She’s also getting ready for a big hike in the Smoky Mountains.
