Following in the footsteps of Motorola Mobility (which migrated from Libertyville to the Mart this past April), McDonald’s is opening up shop in River North early next year in a quest for top-tier tech talent, Crain’s Chicago Business reports. Many digital, design and business development folks will likely make the move from McDonald’s Oak Brook HQ as early as January, execs say. While downtown presence is critical, so is company-wide culture. McD’s will keep some tech folks in Oak Brook to spearhead its new digital ethos, SVP and global chief brand officer Steve Easterbrook told Crain’s. While the firm didn’t reveal the new office’s exact location, it’ll definitely be within the Mart’s orbit. (Crazy idea: Why not build vertical above River North’s Rock ‘n’ Roll McDonald’s?)
