Mayor Rahm Emanuel has named new heads for Chicago’s Public Building Commission and Department of Buildings as he shakes up his cabinet in his second term. Current Buildings Commissioner Felicia Davis becomes the new executive director of Rahm’s Public Building Commission while Judy Frydland, Emanuel’s deputy corporation counsel, replaces Davis at the Buildings Department. Frydland has her work cut out for her; the Sun-Times reports she’ll be tasked with moving forward with reforms implemented under Davis including forcing pre-1975 residential high-rise owners to make fire safety improvements and curbing the number of people on the city’s “bad landlords” list.
