Construction Of Sterling Bay's 210 North Carpenter Is Underway

Sterling Bay's transformation of Fulton Market from meatpacking to one of Chicago's most active real estate submarkets continues apace with the issuance of a construction permit for 210 North Carpenter. The Buildings Department issued the permit last week, covering work valued at $40M.

Sterling Bay announced plans for the development last November. The construction permit calls for development of a 12-story, 200K SF office building with ground-level retail, 44 parking spaces on the second floor, 80 bike parking spaces and no basement.

Sterling Bay signed construction firm Leopardo to a 24K SF lease at 210 North Carpenter in August. Leopardo is the general contractor on the project, while Solomon Cordwell Buenz is the building's designer. 210 North Carpenter joins Fulton West in Sterling Bay's westward expansion of Fulton Market's boundaries, which has become flush with development activity as land in the eastern half of the neighborhood becomes scarce.
