Real Estate Rockers Raise $300k for City of Hope

The Rolling Stones once said "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)." (Now you know where we got the idea to use so many parentheticals.) It was so much more last week at the House of Blues.

More than 1,200 members of the commercial real estate community shook their collective groove thangs last week at the 18th annual REACH Social at the House of Blues, raising more than $300k for pioneering research on cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS at City of Hope. The Square Feets (above) kicked off the night. Snapped: Inland Commercial Mortgage's Joel Kaplan, Riverview Realty Partners' Lamar Newburn, HFF's Jeff Bramson, and Danny Nikitas. (Our favorite of their set was Pearl Jam classic "Yellow Ledbetter.") The lineup included Spakl, Liquidated Damages, Dr. Bombay, and Mad Cow.

We snapped JLL's Jason Trombley, Patty Theokas, and Samantha Grossi. Jason tells us he recently completed leases for: AAA Car Care Plus in Wheaton; Studio Movie Grill in Chatham; and Fruitful Yield in Elmwood Park. Now, he's helping Regus Express search for retail locations for its scalable office concept. (The idea is a meeting place or work-from-home environment in a retail setting, lattes included.) He and his wife Courtney just booked a SW Michigan lake house for two weeks in July for some family beach time with their son, Teddy, and dog, Bunker.

A former Chicagoan living in Atlanta (who visits frequently, who could blame him?), Mario just joined Cassidy Turley in its growing Atlanta property management group. You can hear Chicago buzz all the way from Hotlanta, Mario tells us, from investment in the West Loop to cutting edge office space design trends. Outside of work, Mario follows the Braves (gasp!) but is a Chicago sports fan at heart. He also likes to play guitar and sing, so we hope we'll see him on stage at next year's event.
