After nearly a year of heated competition, the Barack Obama Foundation has named architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien to lead the design team for the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago.
Based in New York City, the husband-and-wife team are modernists who specialize in working with universities, nonprofits and museums to create understated, efficient designs.

Tod and Billie's handiwork can already be appreciated in Chicago. Their firm was behind the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, on the University of Chicago campus (shown). U of C, of course, was the winning bidder for the Obama Library, and it's a near-certainty the library will be built near the Logan Center in Washington Park.
Teaming with Tod and Billie is Interactive Design Architects. The 10-person Chicago firm also has ties to a U of C project, the Eckhardt Center, as well as the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago.
