Urban Trends Plans West Charlotte Office/Retail Development

Wirth & Associates

Locally based Urban Trends Real Estate plans a 76k SF building on a 1.5-acre site at Freedom Drive and Wesley Village Road in west Charlotte, filing a rezoning application with the city. Most of the property would be office space, but the plans also call for 10k SF of retail on the ground and top floors of the seven-story structure.

The property would sit next to Wesley Village Apartments and a string of retailers along Thrift Road. Freedom Drive is now seeing revitalization, reports the Charlotte Business Journal. For example, Movement Resources opened its office on Freedom Drive last year, and has plans for partial redevelopment of a retail center in the corridor. Also, Colliers International is marketing the former Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont site at Freedom Drive and Berryhill Road for redevelopment. [CBJ]
