Work Starts On Second Cabarrus County FedEx Distribution Facility

Construction is underway by SunCap Property Group on a second FedEx facility along I-85 in Cabarrus County. The facility, which will reportedly be a distribution center for the shipping giant, will measure 237k SF and should be completed in about a year.

Last year, SunCap completed a 330k SF FedEx building adjacent to this, in International Business Park. Together, the two structures represent a $101M investment at that location, the Charlotte Business Journal reports.

Demand is high for industrial space in metro Charlotte, particularly distribution facilities. According to JLL, about 3.6M SF is under development, with about 75% of it already taken, spurred by strong interest in pre-leasing. [CBJ]
