What do you do when your microbrewery's a hit? Find some industrial space and expand, which is what NoDa Brewing Co is doing at 2921 N Tryon St.

The brewery, which makes small-batch beers, currently occupies 11k SF on N Davidson St, and will occupy all of the 30k SF Tryon location. Piedmont Properties' Jim Plyler (snapped with colleague Frank McCleneghan) tells us that the building was a perfect fit for a brewery. “It was built as a manufacturing plant for distilling vinegar in the 1920s," he notes. "Now it will be used for distilling a different product.” Jim repped Ray Roofing in the sale of NoDa’s future home to Hop, Drop and Loco, which immediately leased the facility to NoDa Brewing Co.

Frank, who repped NoDa, tells us that as the fastest-growing city in North Carolina, Charlotte has, for a variety of reasons, attracted a more sophisticated beer drinker. Thus the market is expanding for this kind of brewery, and Charlotte has a stock of industrial space to accommodate the growth. "NoDa seems to have recognized the market opportunity,” Frank says.
