DISH Network Corp. inked a lease for the entire 2050 Suttle Ave. building in the Bryant Park district. The company, which is relocating from elsewhere in Charlotte to the 11.2K SF building, will use it as a service vehicle storage and supply facility.
The deal might be ordinary, but the building has a history that is anything but. In 1997, it was the site of the Loomis Fargo robbery, in which North Carolinian David Ghantt and his associates pulled off the second-largest cash heist in U.S. history, for a take of $17.3M.
All of them were eventually convicted and ended up in the jug. Hollywood turned the heist into a comedy, "Masterminds," which was released last year and grossed more than the heist itself.
MPV Properties' Billy Thomas and George Macon repped the landlord, while Hunter Barron, formerly with CBRE, repped DISH, which has hired Roby Commercial to outfit the space. The old bank vault no longer exists, but the former Loomis Fargo bank vault door is still part of the structure.
