Two Inner Harbor hotels are undergoing multimillion-dollar renovations.
The Hyatt Regency Baltimore just wrapped up the lobby renovation, with new escalators, furniture, flooring and lighting, says sales and marketing director Jennifer Byrnes. Catering to wired guests, the hotel has added charging stations and now offers free WiFi in the lobby, restaurant and guest rooms.
It also revamped the pool area with new furniture and a fire pit, where guests can make s’mores (all hotels should be more inspired by 8th grade sleepaway camp). Starting late November, it will renovate its 488 guest rooms with new carpet, bedding and curtains, Jennifer says. The guest room renovations will wrap up March 2016.
The Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore hired Parker Torres Design of Massachusetts to spearhead a $10M renovation. New touches include a tinted glass chandelier and a redesigned library. The hotel added eight new guest rooms, for 203 total, with new wall finishes and carpets.
The renovations come as new hotels enter the Baltimore market. The posh boutique Ivy Hotel, where rooms start at $475 a night, and Hotel Indigo, will open this month. Hotel RL, a brand that caters to Millennials, will open Aug. 1.
