OK, so our headline would imply that investing in Baltimore medical office is a gamble, but these guys know what they're doing. WRIT's got big ideas for its medical office portfolio, and that includes North Baltimore.
This morning, WRIT MOB asset manager Steve Carboni (with his team: Trish Jurgonis, Linda Jackson, Mike Paukstitus, and Matt Stein) told us that yes, the REIT has a buyer lined up for its industrial portfolio so it can concentrate on commercial office inside the Washington Beltway. But it's still sticking by its MOB assets. In fact, it brought Steve in two months ago to make the most of them, and maintaining economy of scale in the small MOB sector means thinking geographically broad. That includes the firm's 125k SF Woodholme Medical Office on the Greene Tree medical corridor in Pikesville and the Plumtree property in Bel Air. It also means keeping an eye out for development and redevelopment sites in our neck of the woods.
