This morning in DC, over 200 of you packed the Downtown Renaissance for our Second Annual Senior Housing Summit. We learned this isn't your grandma's market: aging baby boomers (called the ?silver tsunami?) are causing the sector to suddenly become CRE's ?it girl? (or so says CSH founder Scott Stewart), and properties addressing healthcare needs will prosper. Why? Before the housing bubble burst, most seniors financed their moves to independent living facilities by selling their homes. Now most folks are staying put until medical conditions make assisted living a must. Which brings us to Capital Funding Group's Tim Sanders' point about making your senior living project a success: partnering with a good operator who takes care of residents is key (or else you'll get a bad reputation).
