This morning when we snapped this picture of Turner Broadcasting System in midtown, we couldn't help thinking there's probably some grumbling going on inside about a certain car dealer in Texas. The Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday upheld an earlier court decision that says Turner has to pay David McDavid $281 million for cheating him out of buying the Hawks and Thrashers. For those of you who don't remember, McDavid (best known in his home state of Texas for starring in commercials for his chain of dealerships), signed a letter of intent to buy the teams and arena operating rights from Turner in 2003. But another group, known as Atlanta Spirit, ended up with the teams. If McDavid is victorious in court (Turner has said it will appeal again), we gotta think he's getting a lot better deal than if he had actually purchased the teams. No offense, sports fans. |
