Temperatures were unseasonably low, but spirits were high Saturday when the Atlanta BeltLine broke ground on a revamp of Stanton Park in the Peoplestown neighborhood. No, this is not Mayor Reed or Councilwoman Carla Smith (though they and other dignitaries joined neighbors to celebrate) but BeltLine's Kevin Burke showing us where the light rail will run. (Hint: focus on the dormant kudzu in front of the residential development.) The seven acre park will be ?energy-neutral? and one of several along the 22-mile "emerald necklace" of transit, green spaces, and new development that follows former rail lines in the city. |
