Brookdale Senior Living has purchased two senior housing facilities that it has actually been operating for some time. (They liked it so they put a contract on it.) Brookdale bought two Horizon Bay communities in Rome and Carrollton from Canada-based Chartwell Retirement Residences. It was part of a seven-property portfolio sale that included properties in Arizona, Alabama, and Oklahoma as well for a total of $52M. We chatted with Grandbridge Real Estate Capital's Ben Dupree, who's company helped cobble the deal together, and says Brookdale assumed $44M in Freddie Mac debt and placed an $8.1M new loan on one of the properties in the transaction with Chartwell.
