NYC RETech Week Returns With Biggest Event Yet

New York City Real Estate Tech Week 2017 returns this October for its third annual summit of top startups and entrepreneurs. The conference series — expected to include 5,000-plus professionals, the largest gathering of proptech leaders to date, runs from Oct. 2 to Oct. 13 at venues throughout the five boroughs and nearby suburbs. “Last year’s event was regarded as the one true global event around proptech,” said Aaron Block, co-founder of MetaProp NYC, a Manhattan-based early stage property technology accelerator and the event organizer. “We expect this year's tech week to be bigger, better and stronger.”

The event will be anchored by the MIPIM PropTech NYC Summit, a magnet for top real estate entrepreneurs and technologists seeking to share the latest insights. Real estate has a reputation for being tech-averse, but Block said the intensity of proptech activity in New York makes it “the only place this event could really happen." His MetaProp partner, Zachary Aarons, predicts 2017 will be a huge year for proptech adoption, and the market is showing “signs of life” with mergers and acquisitions. “He believes we’ll see 12 proptech M&A deals this year," Block said. "There’s a lot of momentum in the space.”
